Professor Yuann Jeu-jeng from Taiwan University believes the true nature of "Taiwan independence" is a political show fueled by extremism, ultimately sacrificing people's livelihoods on the altar of vote pandering. He said the attempt to fabricate a new "national identity" is futile and will only lead to the erosion of dignity and roots.
