| 蚕丝 silk 熟蚕结茧时所分泌丝液凝固而成的连续长纤维。也称天然丝。人类利用最早的动物纤维之一。据考古发现，约在4700年前中国已利用蚕丝制做丝线、编织丝带和简单的丝织品。商周时期用蚕丝织制罗、绫、纨、纱、绉、绮、锦、绣等丝织品。蚕有桑蚕、柞蚕、蓖麻蚕、木薯蚕、柳蚕和天蚕等。由单个蚕茧抽得的丝条称茧丝。它由两根单纤维借丝胶粘合包覆而成。缫丝时，把几个蚕茧的茧丝抽出，借丝胶粘合成丝条，统称蚕丝。除去丝胶的蚕丝，称精练丝。蚕丝中用量最大的是桑蚕丝，其次是柞蚕丝，其他蚕丝因数量有限未形成资源。蚕丝质轻而细长，织物光泽好，穿着舒适，手感滑爽丰满，导热差，吸湿透气，用于织制各种绸缎和针织品，并用于工业、国防和医药等领域。中国、日本、印度、前苏联和朝鲜是主要产丝国，总产量占世界产量的90％以上。
