性质:用化学试剂直接还原有机化合物的反应,因而又称直接还原(direct reduction)。能直接还原有机化合物的化学试剂有:碱金属、镁、锌、铝、铁、锡等活泼金属;氢化铝锂、硼氢化钠、硼化氢等无机氢化物;具有还原作用的无机酸、碱、盐;甲酸、甲醛、苯甲醛、醇铝等有机还原试剂。这些化学试剂多数用于还原羰基、羟基、硝基、卤素、羧酸、酸酐、酰胺、酯等极性基团。只有少数化学试剂(如NH=NH,BH3等),才能还原非极性基团。化学还原是有机合成的重要手段,应用广泛。
