| 大黄 常用泻下药。为蓼科多年生草本植物掌叶大黄、唐古特大黄或药用大黄的根和根茎。掌叶大黄和唐古特大黄产于中国青海、甘肃、四川等地。药用大黄产于湖北、四川、云南、贵州等地。大黄苦，寒。归脾、胃、大肠、肝、心包经。功能攻积导滞，泻火解毒，祛瘀止血。主治肠胃实热，燥结积滞，腹满，便秘，腹痛，湿热黄疸，咽喉肿痛，目赤口疮，牙痛，吐衄，症瘕积聚，肠痈，痈疽疔疮等证。外用，治热毒疮疡。
现代药理实验证明，大黄有抑制细菌、真菌和病毒，促进血凝，降低胆固醇等作用。 |
