聚丙烯酸钠简称PAANa，结构式为[－CH2－CH(COONa)]n－。是—种水溶性树脂，分子量数百万，无色或淡黄色粘稠液体，呈弱碱性，能电离，有腐蚀性。在PH＝4附近时，容易凝胶；在PH＝2．5时，近于溶解。易溶于氢氧化钠水溶液，但在氢氧化钙、氢氧化镁等水溶液中会沉淀。无毒。
