杭州市萧山区城南小学位于萧山区城厢街道崇化小区南端，是一所城郊结合型的小学，学生主要来自附近的10个村，现有班级13个，教职工32人，学生500余人。
近年来，学校认真贯彻党的教育方针，全面实施素质教育，以“一切为了学生”作为办学目标，坚持德育为首，注重日常行为规范的养成教育，学校先后被评为区级文明单位、区教师和学生行业规范达标学校、区德育工作先进集体、区安全文明校园、区红十字工作先进集体、区卫生先进单位、区关心下一代工作先进集体等。
学校十分重视办学特色的创建，针对本校实际，从1998年起，确定学生编手抄小报为学校的办学特色，并把它作为活动课程的一个部分。经过几年努力，已从试点发展到全校学生人人参与，从数量、质量上均有一个较大的突破。由于编报活动的深入开展，促进了学生素质的全面发展。近几年，学生在参加上级举行的读书征文竞赛中多次获奖，其中获省级奖10余个、杭州市级奖五个、萧山区级奖10余个。在参加区级体育比赛中，女子篮球已连续两年获冠军，乒乓球比赛99年获冠军、2002年为亚军，2003年为冠军。学校被区教育局命名为体育、科技传统项目定点学校。
目前，城南小学的迁建方案已经萧山区人民政府批准，预计：一所投资4300万元，占地52亩，规模为36班，容纳1600余人的新校舍，将在2005年春投入使用。
今后，学校将继续努力，把城南小学办成高质量、声誉好、有特色的现代化学校。
