   分子式C8H4O3,分子量148.11。俗称苯酐,白色针状晶体。熔点130.5℃,沸点284.5℃。密度1.527g/cm3,易升华。稍溶于冷水,溶于热水并水解成邻苯二甲酸。溶于乙醇。苯和吡啶,微溶于乙醚。是重要的化工原料,用于制染料、聚酯树脂、醇酸树脂、增塑剂、涤纶和药物等;邻苯二甲酸酐与苯酚缩合生成酚酞,是常用的酸碱指示剂。可由邻二甲苯在五氧化二钒存在下于480℃时氧化,或将萘用酸性重铬酸盐氧化制得。
