性质:自然界中铅以204Pb、206Pb、207Pb、208Pb四种同位素的存在,相对丰度分别为1.48%、23.6%、22.6%、52.3%,除204Pb为非放射成因外,其他分别由238U、235U、232Th衰变产生,在研究铅同位素丰度变化时以204Pb作为比较基础,测定其他各同位素与204Pb的比值。在地质科学中用于U-Th-Pb衰变系列的测年及普通含铅矿物(基本不含U、Th)铅同位素组成示踪成岩、成矿物质来源,划分大地构造单元。此外,现代火山喷发物及大气沉降物中含有少量的238U的中间衰变子体210Pb,其半衰期为22.6年,可用来测定近几百年内形成的地质体的年龄,海洋、湖泊及冰雪沉积的沉积速率。
