A series of π-conjugated compounds with biphenyl chromophore were synthesized from 4,4'-bis(diethoxy phosphonomethyl)-diphenyl and aromatic aldehydes(or cinnamaldehyde) by Wittig-Horner reaction with alkali-assisted catalysis in DMF solution.
