经济活动主体之间收入与支出的流量就叫收入循环流量。在只有厂商和居民户的两部门经济分析中，居民户向厂商提供各种生产要素，并从厂商那里得到收入；厂商利用各种生产要素进行生产，并向居民户提供产品和劳务。因此，居民户为购买厂商提供的产品和劳务，让手中的货币流向厂商；厂商为支付居民户提供的生产要素服务，又让货币流向居民户。在这里，居民户收入的货币价值必须等于厂商产出的货币价值。如果居民户把收入的一部分用来向厂商购买产品与劳务，而把另一部分存入金融机构，而厂商在居民户的消费支出之外又能从金融机构获得投资资金来源，那么在金融机构把全部储蓄都转化为投资资金的情况下，收入流量的循环仍可正常进行下去。在这里，储蓄是一种漏出，导致收入循环流量的减少，而投资是一种注入，导致收入循环流量的增加。在均衡条件下，漏出必须等于注入。
