分子式C6H6O，分子量126.11。结构简式亦称间苯三酚或1，3，5-苯三酚，俗名根皮酚。白色品体。有甜味。在光照下颜色变深。水溶液中结晶时常含有两个分子结晶水。熔点203.8℃。能溶于乙醇、乙醚和吡啶，溶于碱溶液。微溶于水。能升华并分解。用于制染料、药物、树脂，用作晒图纸显色剂等。由间苯二酚经碱熔法或用三硝基甲苯为原料制得。
