| 居住区 residential 城市居民居住和活动的区域。中国唐代以前，城市中主要采用里坊制形式，北宋取消坊墙，使街与坊相结合。19世纪末，在上海、天津、汉口等通商口城市出现里弄式居住区。20世纪50年代采用居住街坊形式，50年代后期许多城市以居住小区取代街坊，由若干个居住小区组成居住区。居住区的构 成和规 模同城市的规 模和总体布 局有关 。 一般按 居住区——居住小区——住宅组团（或居住街坊）分级划分。居住区位于城市中心，应选择地势高、卫生条件好且景观优美的地段，并考虑相应的交通联系，尽可能减少环境污染。一些发达国家建设了一批以大型、高层住宅为主的综合体居住区，住宅地下设置车库，住宅下几层为商店和公共设施。它是一种在人口、用地、设施等方面集约式发展的居住区。中国自50年代起建设城市居住区，如上海曹杨新村居住区、北京方庄居住区等。
