噪声对仪器设备的影响有三种情况：使仪器设备受到干扰、使仪器设备失效和使仪器设备损坏。噪声使仪器设备受到干扰是指在噪声场中工作的仪器设备本身噪声增大，影响其正常工作；噪声使仪器设备失效是指在噪声场中仪器设备失去工作能力，但在噪声消失后又能恢复工作；噪声使仪器设备损坏是指噪声场激发的振动造成仪器设备的破坏而不能使用。
噪声对仪器设备的影响同噪声的强度、噪声的频谱以及仪器设备本身状况和安装方式有关。对于电子仪器，噪声场超过 135分贝就可能对电子元件、器件和对噪声及振动敏感的部件造成影响。例如电子管会产生电噪声，输出虚假信号;继电器会抖动或断路,使电路不稳定；加速度计的某些频率输出会增强；引线会脱焊；微调电容器会失调；印刷电路板或板的连接部分会接触不良或断裂。一般说来,电阻、电容器和晶体管等只有处于150分贝以上的噪声场中才会受到影响。
在航天器发射和飞行、喷气式飞机起飞和飞行的过程中，噪声强度可达到150～160分贝，在这种情况下如何保护仪器、设备免受噪声的影响是很重要的问题。
噪声作用到仪器设备有两个途径：一个是噪声通过面板直接作用于内部元件、器件；另一个是外部结构的振动传输给框架和电路板，使元件、器件受震激发。振动的大小同噪声强度和频率有关，也同仪器设备的元件、器件及其系统的共振有关。实验表明，对于体积大的元件、器件和系统，两种传输途径都起作用。对于小型元件、器件，则声激励的作用比结构振动的作用要小。
为了预防或减少噪声影响，在设计仪器设备时，必须选择对噪声不敏感的元件、器件，或者对设备作适当的降噪和减振处理。因此，要通过分析和实验，查明元件、器件受影响的最小临界噪声级，这样可以避免对元件和器件提出过高的隔声和隔振要求，从而减轻设备的重量，减少结构的复杂性，并降低造价。
