察 隅 黎军摄Chayu察隅(zayu)中国西藏自治区属县，边防要地。位于西藏东南隅，东邻云南省，南与缅甸、印度接壤。面积约3.38万平方千米，人口2.47万(1993)，为藏族和橙人居住区。原称桑昂曲宗，1960年设桑昂曲县，1966年改察隅县。县政府驻吉公镇。地处喜马拉雅山脉与伯舒拉岭之间的藏东南峡谷区，周围高山环绕，谷地海拔2 500米以下，地势北高南低，地形起伏大，高差多在2000米以上。由北向南流的桑曲与贡日嘎布曲在赤通拉卡汇流后称察隅河，沿山谷向南流经前门里出境，注人印度布拉马普特拉河。沿河谷地中分布有大小不一的台地，水流湍急。公路沿河岸而筑，一条由沙马经窘洞至比大桥，一条由窘洞经吉公至然乌与川藏干线相连，均系简易公路，多傍山险道，夏季常出现滚石、塌方，冬季山口积雪，影响通行。属亚热带山地湿润气候，温暖湿润，雨量充沛。年平均气温11.8℃，1月平均气温3.9℃，7月平均气温18.7℃。年平均降水量1 000毫米。北部山地有冰川分布，夏季雪融时，常暴发泥石流。境内森林广布，察隅谷地两侧有常绿阔叶林，面积约1 000公顷。农业主产青棵、小麦、玉米等。1962年中印边境自卫反击战时，中国西藏边防部队以察隅为依托，沿察隅河谷地向南反攻，击败人侵印军后，主动撤至察隅地区。(高占文)
