性质:一种吸水量可达自身重量几百倍至一千倍以上的树脂。这种树脂不但吸水性高,而且吸收的水不易蒸发,并有很强的增稠性能,但在含有盐类电解质的水溶液中,吸水量会大大下降。按所用原料不同,可分为淀粉系、纤维素系、聚丙烯酸系和聚乙烯醇系。高吸水树脂多为交联结构,靠所含亲水基团和渗透压作用而起吸水和保水作用。常见和种类有淀粉-丙烯腈接枝共聚物的水解产物、淀粉-丙烯酸盐接枝共聚物、羧甲基纤维素、乙烯醇-丙烯酸钠共聚物、聚丙烯酸钠等。主要用作餐巾纸、卫生巾、尿布、土壤保墒剂和苗木移植保水剂等。广泛用作土壤保水剂、卫生材料吸水剂、工业脱水剂、钻孔润滑剂、改性农用薄膜、水果蔬菜的保鲜剂等,目前其他用途还在不断开发,是一种很有发展前途的新型材料。由水溶性高分子经轻微交联而得。
