大别山

    位于中国湖北省、河南省、安徽省交界处。东南西北走向。西接桐柏山,东为张八岭,三者合称淮阳山。长江、淮河的分水岭。长 270 千米,褶皱断块山。主峰天堂寨,海拔1729米,位于湖北省罗田县东北;白马尖(一称霍山),海拔1774米,位于安徽省霍山县南。山地被断层分割成许多菱形断块,东南侧黄梅到桐城一带,山麓线挺直,山坡陡到50°以上,是明显的断层崖。山地南北侧修建了许多水库,有梅山、佛子岭、白莲河等水库。原来森林葱郁,但遭长期破坏,覆盖率低,水土流失严重,水库淤塞严重。现存森林以马尾松、杉、栎为主。大别山区是中国茶叶主产区,其中皖西六安瓜片、豫南信阳毛尖、鄂东北的汉绿都是有名的品种。板栗、油桐、油茶、乌桕、漆树等经济林木在低山丘陵区广布。
