南亚七国组成的地区性经济合作组织。成员国有印度、巴基斯坦、孟加拉国、斯里兰卡、尼泊尔、马尔代夫和不丹等国。1980年孟加拉国总统Z.拉赫曼首先提出南亚地区经济合作的倡议。1981年 4月七国外交秘书开始就倡议进行会谈。1983年 8月七国外长举行会议，通过了《南亚地区合作宣言》和《南亚地区合作统一行动纲领》。1985年12月，在孟加拉国首都达卡举行七国首脑会议，七国首脑签署了《南亚区域合作联盟宪章》和《达卡宣言》，宣告南亚区域合作联盟正式成立。
联盟的主要任务是：加速经济发展，提高和改善本地区人民的生活福利，促进集体自力更生，推动成员国之间在经济、社会、文化和科技方面的协作，并加强同其他发展中国家以及国际组织和区域性组织的相互合作。联盟的组织机构有：首脑会议,每年召开一次;部长理事会,由外交部长组成；常务理事会,由外交秘书组成。联盟成立以后，主要致力于农业、乡村发展、电讯、气象、科技与体育、邮政、交通、卫生与人口、文化与艺术等 9个领域的合作。联盟的建立,对于该地区的经济发展和政治稳定具有重要意义。
