Miscanthus sinensis
    禾本科芒属植物的通称。又称巴茅。多年生牧草,常与野古草、金茅等组成稳定群落。在不常利用的草地多为密集草丛,在高山上部植株矮化成疏丛状。根系发达,茎高1~2米,叶长而扁平或内卷,顶生圆锥花序。适应性强,喜酸性土壤,易再生,耐割刈或践踏。每年割2~3次。抽穗期割的可加工为青贮饲料。芒还可用作造纸原料。广泛分布于亚洲和太平洋岛屿。中国长江以南丘陵地普遍生长。
