      按照法拉第定律,当通过电解槽的电量为96490库仑时,在阴极上应析出1克当量的电解产物。但在实际中所得到的电解产物,常常比按法拉第定律计算出的理论量低。电解时,阴极上实际析出的金属量与通过同样电量所得到的理论金属量之比,以百分率计算,称为电流效率η,确切地说应为阴极电流效率。
  
  
  阳极电流效率是指可溶性阳极实际溶解的金属量与通过同样电量理论上应溶解的金属量之比。在冶金的电解生产中,阴极析出物通常是主要的产物,因此电流效率通常是指阴极电流效率。电流效率达不到 100%的主要原因是在电极上存在副反应、已析出的金属反溶和电路的漏电和短路等。电流效率是生产上的一个重要技术经济指标。
