X线成像设备的元件之一。X线发生装置。医用X线源具有三个主要特征：①可提供高能量，可提供X线摄影需要的必要的光子量。②点源，X线源(焦点)的截面积宜尽可能的小，为一“点源”。③可提供尽可能窄的X线光谱，当然理想的应提供单一能量光谱(单色光)，但事实上是不可能的。X线源提供的由单一能量级的光子构成的X线束称单色光，由不同能量级的光子构成的X线束称多色光。
