分子式C8H8O分子量：120.14。亦称乙酰苯，俗称安眠酮。无色晶体，或浅黄色油状液体。有象山楂的气味。熔点20.5℃，沸点202.3℃，密度（20/4℃）1.0281g/cm3。微溶于水，易溶于多种有机溶剂。能与蒸气一起挥发，氧化时可以生成苯甲酸；还原时可生成乙苯，完全加氢时生成乙基环己烷。用于制香皂和香烟，也用作纤维素酯和树脂等的溶剂和塑料工业生产中的增塑剂等。可由苯与乙酸酐反应制得，或由乙苯氧化制得，也可用乙酰氯与苯在三氯化铝作用下经傅氏反应制得。
