【来源】
为鸭跖草科植物紫露草的全草。
【植物形态】
紫露草 一年生草本，高20～50厘米。茎多分枝，带肉质，紫红色，下部匍匐状，节上常生须根，上部近于直立。叶互生，披针形，长6～13厘米，宽6～10毫米，先端渐尖，全缘，基部抱茎而成鞘，鞘口有白色长睫毛，上面暗绿色，边缘绿紫色，下面紫红色。花密生在二叉状的花序柄上，下具线状披针形苞片，长约7厘米；萼片3，绿色，卵圆形，宿存；花瓣3，蓝紫色，广卵形；雄蕊6，2枚发商，3枚退化，另有1枚花丝短而纤细，无花药；雌蕊1，子房卵形，3室，花柱丝状而长，柱头头状。蒴果椭圆形，有3条隆起棱线。种子呈三棱状半圆形，汉棕色。花期夏秋。 多栽培于庭园。

《广西中药志》："味淡甘，性凉，有毒。"
【归经】
①《广西中药志》："入心、肝二经。" ②《泉州本草》："入肝、胆、肾、膀胱四经。"
【功用主治】
活血，利水，消肿，散结，解毒。治痈疽肿毒，瘰疬结核，淋病。 ①《广西中药志》："活血，止血，解蛇毒。治蛇泡疮，疮疡，毒蛇咬伤，跌打，风湿。" ②《泉州本草》："利水退癀，散结败毒。"
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，3～5钱(鲜者1～2两)。外用：捣敷或煎水洗。
【宜忌】
《广西中药志》："孕妇忌服。"
【选方】
①治痈疽肿毒：鲜紫鸭跖草、仙巴掌捣敷。(《泉州本草》) ②治腹股沟或腋窝结核：鲜紫鸭跖草二两。清水煎服。或加仙巴掌合煎。(《泉州本草》) ③治蛇泡疮：紫鸭跖草叶，煎衣洗。(《广西中药志》) ④治诸淋：鲜紫鸭跖草一至二两。合冰糖煎服。(《泉州本草》)
