性质:无色透明发烟液体。熔点-70℃,沸点59℃,相对密度(20/4℃)1.483,折光率(nD20)1.412。可与苯、乙醚、氯仿、石油醚、四氯化碳、四氯化锡、四氯化钛混溶。遇水放热,并分解成硅酸和氯化氢,遇醇起激烈反应。易流动,易挥发,具有难闻的窒息性气味。当有水存在时能腐蚀多数金属。

制备方法:将硅铁加热至200℃以上,通氯气生成四氯化硅,经精馏而得成品。

用途:用于制取有机硅、硅酸酸酯、有机硅油、高温绝缘、硅树脂、硅橡胶等。还用来吸收水分,制造战争用烟幕剂等。
