      浙江省第 2大河。山溪型河流。因温州古称瓯而得名。源于浙闽边境洞宫山西北,东北流至丽水城郊附近折向东南,经温州流入东海。干流全长388公里,流域面积1.79万平方公里。瓯江干流自源头至丽水市大港头称龙泉溪,属上游河段;大港头至青田县石溪称大溪,属中游河段;石溪以下始称瓯江。主要支流自上而下有松阴溪、好溪、小溪和楠溪。瓯江中上游河段除局部小平原外,全系山区,河流转折在丛山峻岭之中,水急滩多,水力资源丰富。流域四周为重要木材基地,多以木筏外运;下游为台地及滨海冲积平原,江面较宽,潮汐影响所及之河段可通小轮。河口温州港是浙南最大海港,中国对外开放港口之一。
