The operation condition of indigenous palladium-carbon catalyst was analyzed,two batches of the catalysts used in purified terephthalic acid(PTA) unit sequentially.

Based on test and analysis of Chinese - made Pd/C catalyst used in terephthalic acid plants , the causes for deactivation of catalyst were discovered : block of the micro pores of catalysts by organics , cover of active component Pd by organics , sulfur intoxication , and decrease of Pd crystallites dispersion degree due to its large size.

The industrial application of the home-made Pd/C catalyst was introduced.
