      亦称七溪岭战斗。1928年6月,国民党赣军第9、第27师共5个团,由第9师师长杨池生为总指挥,准备对井冈山革命根据地举行第4次"进剿"。红军第4军获悉赣军即将发动进攻的情况后,主动撤出永新县城,退到根据地中心区域宁冈,进行反"进剿"准备。6月中旬,赣军占领永新城后, 以3个团分左右两路向宁冈方向进攻,于22日分别进至龙源口和白口,企图经新、老七溪岭进攻宁冈。根据这个情况,红4军军长朱德、党代表毛泽东决定,以红29团和红31团第1营占领新七溪岭,阻击来犯之敌;以红28团向老七溪岭出击,迂回敌之侧后,在阻击部队配合下,求歼国民党军一部或大部,以粉碎其"进剿"。23日拂晓前,红军各部分别进到指定地域。当日上午,红29团及红31团第1营在新七溪岭接连打退赣军左路1个团的多次冲击,守住了阵地。与此同时,红28团向进占老七溪岭制高点的赣军右路两个团先头部队发起多次攻击,战至午后,攻占了制高点,接着转入追击,在白口歼其一部,旋即直插龙源口,切断了左路的退路。此时,红29团等部将赣军左路击溃,追至龙源口,在红28团的协同下将其全歼,并乘胜收复永新城。龙源口战斗,红军第4军歼灭赣军1个团,击溃其两个团,缴枪约800支,取得了第4次反"进剿"的胜利。
