稳压二极管是面结型硅二极管。它利用pn结工作在反向击穿状态时，击穿电压附近的电流变化很大，电压变化却很小的原理。在应用电路中串有限流电阻，使稳压管击穿后电流不超过允许值。这样，在反向偏压下，输出稳定的电压。
