Methods:97 HIV antibody positive patients were treated with the methods of supplementing qi and replenishing yin and clearing heat and toxic materials and the physical sign integral of their symptom and the changes of their CD4 cell index were observed in the course of the treatment.

清法之一，运用寒凉解毒作用的药物治疗各种热毒病证的治法。此法适用于：①瘟疫，如大头瘟、烂喉丹痧、疫痢、白喉、麻疹等；②高热、烦躁、吐血、衄血、斑疹等火热毒胜之证；③外科疮疡、痈疽、疖疔、丹毒、肠痈、肺痈等属热盛者；④西医所指的恶性肿瘤、血液病见火热毒盛证候者。常用的清热解毒药物有黄连、黄芩、黄柏、银花、连翘、板蓝根、升麻、玄参、蒲公英、紫花地丁、野菊花、败酱草、土茯苓、半边莲、蚤休等。常用的方剂有黄连解毒汤、普济消毒饮、仙方活命饮、五味消毒饮、犀黄丸。清热解毒法常与清气分热，清热凉血，活血化瘀，透疹，软坚散结等治法配合使用。如热毒充斥气血，宜与清气凉血法配合，方如清瘟败毒饮；疮疡肿毒，红肿痛，或乳腺癌、瘰疬、流注，宜与软坚散结、活血化瘀法配合，方如犀黄丸；如麻疹未发，或发而未透，宜与透疹法配合，方如升麻葛根汤。
临床注意事项：①寒性痈疽忌用；②脾胃素虚，气血不足，阴液亏虚者慎用，必要时须与补气养血、滋阴、健脾等法配合使用。
