江苏大丰市草堰镇上，原有一座古刹北极殿，始建于何年已无考。此殿规摸宏大，山门前为飞檐琉瓦照壁，山门上嵌有白玉石横额，上镌"北极天枢"四个贴金大字，内供四大金刚塑像；穿过天井是正殿，中间供奉北极真武大帝，东厢供雷祖，西厢为僧房，殿后为上下两层藏经楼。北极殿不仅年代久远，而且它是吴王张士诚的首义地，因而声名远播。
