      包括氢、锂、钠、钾、铷、铯和钫七个元素(见彩图)。其中只有氢是双原子分子组成的气体,主要显非金属性;其余六种元素都是固体,主要显金属性,通称碱金属。碱金属蒸气中大部分是单原子分子,只有少量双原子分子。氢和碱金属都是 s电子充填元素,外层电子同属ns1构型。金属氢的研制和锂键的发现,说明氢与碱金属元素还是相近的。
