为紫草科植物紫筒草的全草。
【植物形态】
紫筒草 多年生草本，高达80厘米。根细，稍带紫红色，生数茎。茎直立，枝铺散，全株密生开展的白毛。叶互生，无柄，长圆状披针形乃至广线形，长2～3.5厘米，宽3～4毫米，先端钝。总状花序生于茎顶，较长，有苞叶；萼片5，披针状线形，基部合生；花冠浅红紫色或蓝紫色，外面有毛，花筒细长，长约7毫米，裂片短而钝，卵圆形，略张开。小坚果卵状三棱形，先端尖，长约2毫米，有短柄，表面具有大小不等的疣状微凸起。花期4～6月。 生于草原、沙漠地区的固定沙地、山坡、沙质地。分布吉林、辽宁、内蒙古、陕西等地。 本植物的根(紫筒草根)亦供药用，另详专条。

治小关节疼痛。

治小关节疼痛：白毛草三钱，煮水内服，长期服用或加桑椹三钱同煮，效果更好。也可制成散剂服用。
