气压传动中将压缩气体的压力能转换为机械能并产生旋转运动的气动执行元件。常用的气压马达是容积式气动马达，它利用工作腔的容积变化来作功，分叶片式、活塞式和齿轮式等型式。图为叶片式气动马达示意图。转子安装在偏心的定子内。叶片装在转子的径向槽内，底部装有弹簧，把定子和转子间的空间分隔成许多小气室。当压缩气体从进气口A进入气室时,驱动转子转动，废气从排气口C排出，残余气体从出气口 B排出。叶片式气动马达的转速为0～25000转／分，工作压力为0.4～0.8兆帕,功率为0.6～18千瓦。改变输入流量即可实现无级调速。方向控制阀可操纵气动马达正反转，升速快，有过载保护特性。气动马达可用于潮湿、高温、防爆、防火、起动频繁、带负载起动、经常变向和无级调速等场合。在叶片式气动马达轴上附加专用工具可制成各种气动工具。把气动马达用于气动动力头的主传动，则可进行钻孔、锪孔、铰孔、磨孔和攻丝等切削加工。在飞机、汽车、仪表制造的气动组合机床上，可同时布置几十个气动动力头。
