性质:又称南天竹碱,南天竹素。熔点115~117℃(甲醇+水),84~85℃(无水甲醇或苯)和152~153℃(在60℃,P2O5干燥后)。易溶于氯仿,溶于热乙醇、醋酸乙酯、醋酸及碱、微溶于乙醚,不溶于水。旋光度[α]D+60.5°。在空气中易于氧化。天然存在于小檗科植物南天竹(Nandina domestica Thunb.)的果实、根、茎等中。可化学合成制得。本品对心脏有抑制作用,对离体蛙、兔心脏均有直接的麻痹作用。对中枢神经的作用,,是因动物种类的不同而显示不同的药理作用:对冷血动物(蛙)可引起吗啡样中枢抑制作用;对温血动物(小鼠、犬)小量时引起轻度麻痹,大剂量时引起惊厥等症状。对离体兔子宫小剂量表现为兴奋,大剂量则变为麻痹。本品还有醛糖还原酶抑制作用。含有本品的药物制剂具有镇咳疗效。
