      20世纪70年代末期发展起来的新型排版系统。它是根据字符经过电子计算机信息处理,在激光扫描成像工作原理的基础上产生的。由于激光光束的直线性好、能量强、解像力高、可以整版扫描等,直接照摄在涂有与激光波长相对应的制版感光材料上,经过处理 (不必经由感光材料将字符转移),就能直接制成印版。这一系统首先由英国连诺公司在1979年推出。80年代初又有用发光二极管(LED)代替激光的机型。
