性质:是高分子材料耐高温高湿条件下性能变化的能力。不少高分子材料对湿热因素比较敏感,其老化情况比干热时还大。湿热老化破坏的主要表现为:(1)水分子的渗透作用,使材料内部含湿增高,使其内增塑剂及其他可溶性溶解,渗出和迁移,导致材料力学性能下降;(2)热使高分子链的运动加剧,削弱分子间的作用力,加速形成分子间的空隙。湿热条件一般为40~60℃,相对湿度90%~95%。以材料曝露试验前后有关性能变化百分率表示。耐湿热性对指导湿热带或亚湿热带气候区或地下工程选材具有重要意义。
