生物发光(bioluminescence)

是生物发生光子的过程,可分为发出可见光的生物发光,即强发光(强度可达1010光子cm-2s-1)和肉眼觉察不到的超微弱发光,即生物光子现象(强度仅103~104光子cm-2s-1),又称化学发光。生物发光(强发光)中,能量是由氧化作用或氧的反应释放提供的,主要的发光体是活性氧1O2和激发态羰基;而生物光子则需以日光或其他辐射为能源,发光体有自由基、基团正、负离子的湮灭,获得转移能的卟啉与芳香化合物等。生物光子已应用于医学和农业,可作为反映病理与生理状况的检测指标。
