性质：又称穿心莲乙素，穿心莲素。属二萜内酯类。斜方棱柱状或片状结晶(由甲醇或乙醇中结晶)。熔点230～231℃。旋光度-126.6°±2°(冰醋酸)。密度(21℃)1.2317g/cm3。无色方形或长方形结晶，味极苦。熔点228～230℃。旋光度-126°。可溶于甲醇、丙酮、氯仿、乙醚，微溶于水。对酸碱均不稳定。存在于爵床科植物穿心莲(Andrographis paniculata Nees)的全草中。穿心莲叶为原料经乙醇提取精制而得。为抗菌、消炎、清热、解毒药。对金葡菌、溶血性链球菌、肺炎球菌、伤寒杆菌、痢疾杆菌、变形杆菌等，都有较好的抗菌活性、对病毒、螺旋体也有一定的抑制作用。主要用于治疗细菌性痢疾、急性肠胃炎、流行性腮腺炎、扁桃体炎，咽喉炎、上呼道感染、泌尿道感染等。制剂有片剂，注射剂。副作用为注射剂偶有过敏反应。
