形态特征子实体较小,木栓质,一年生或多年生。菌盖1.5-5.5cm×1.5-4.5cm,厚1-2.2cm。半圆形,近圆形,或近肾形,扁平或近马蹄形。幼时橙红色,红褐色至暗红褐色,紫红色,紫褐至黑褐色。表面有添样光泽,具明显的的同心环纹及沟棱纵条纹不明显,边缘钝或厚呈截状。菌肉分层不明显。上层木材色,黄褐色或淡褐色,接近菌管处呈褐色,厚0.1-0.2cm,菌丝无色至褐色。菌管褐色,长0.3-2cm,分层不明显,管口近圆形或圆形,污白色浅褐色至褐色,每毫米4-6个。菌柄背着生或背侧生。细长圆柱形,光亮长4-15cm,粗0.3-1cm,往往粗细不均呈念球状,同盖色或较深。孢子卵圆形一端平截,双层壁,外壁无色,平滑,内壁有小刺,淡褐色,8.7-10.4μm×5.2-6.9μm。
