| 用材林 timber production forest 以生产木材为主要目的的林种。可分为一般用材林和专用用材林两种。前者指培育大径通用材种（主要是锯材）为主的森林；后者指专门培育某一材种的用材林，包括坑木林、纤维造纸林、胶合板材林等。培育用材林总的目标是速生、丰产和优质。速生是缩短培育规定材种的年限；丰产指提高单位面积上的木材蓄积量和生长量 ；优质主要包括对干形（通直度、尖削度）、节疤（数量、大小）及材性（木材物理-力学特性、纤维素含量和特性等）等方面的要求。集约经营用材林有可能缩短培育年限的一半，但仅在部分条件较好、生产潜力较大的林地上采用。对这部分集约经营的森林（以人工林为主）称为速生丰产用材林。经营速生丰产林的业务称为高产林业或种植园式林业。
