大白茶产自景谷县，海拔1600米的陈六九去江迤(即澜沧江)边做生意，在茶山坝发现白茶种，便偷偷地摘得数十粒种籽，藏于竹筒扁担中，带回秧塔。先种在大园子地，经数年培育，成长很快，而后扩种到周围十四块茶地，曾达三、四亩面积，年产三、五担茶。目前，大园子地还存活着大白茶树，其中有株基茎围达88厘米，胸围61厘米，主干分枝六个，树高4.26米，树幅35×360厘米，年产白茶六、七市斤。这株茶树是陈六九第一次所种的母树，距今已有150年左右。历史上大白茶的制作方法，鲜叶采下后，随即手工杀青，然后摊凉揉捻，揉捻一道后，经充分解块，均匀地摊在蔑笆上，曝晒到半干时，再复揉一道(称为收二道浆)，然后抖散，晒干即成。大白茶成品外形美观，白毫特显，茶味清香，并具有橄榄清香的特点。在封建王朝时曾制成龙须茶，以红丝线扎成谷穗状，进贡朝廷，称为白龙须贡茶。现在的大白茶已改为烘青茶做法。清明前后，采摘一芽二、三叶初展，经杀青、揉捻、烘干而成。大白茶外形条索硕长壮实，银毫闪烁，形状优美。内质香气浓郁清鲜，滋味醇厚回甘，汤色清澈，冲泡在玻璃杯中，恰似片片玉兰茶瓣悬浮水中，令人兴趣盎然。
