      水土保持沟道治理工程之一(见水土保持工程技术措施)。以拦泥淤地、发展农业生产为目的而横筑于沟道的坝工建筑。淤成的地即坝地。中国修坝淤地约有三四百年历史。淤地坝能削减洪峰,调节地表和地下径流,稳定和抬高侵蚀基准,控制沟底下切、沟岸扩张和沟顶前进;拦截坡地上流失的肥沃土壤,充分利用水沙质源,把荒沟淤成良田,扩大耕地。主要修筑在中国水土流失较严重的黄土高原丘陵沟壑区的支、毛沟内。这类地区土料丰富,可就地取材,施工经济。通常有两种分类方式:按建坝材料可分为土坝、石坝和土石混合坝,按施工方法分为碾压坝、水力冲填坝、堆石坝、干砌石坝和浆砌石坝等。
  
  淤地坝一般由坝体、溢洪道和泄水洞3部分组成。小型淤地坝可由坝体和溢洪道或泄水洞两部分组成。坝体在黄土区多为黄土均质坝,在土石山区有土石混合坝、塑性心墙坝、浆砌石坝和砌拱坝。坝体边坡由坝高、施工方法和筑坝材料确定。溢洪道主要为开敞式,根据地基条件采用陡坡、挑鼻坎、多级跌水等,也可利用天然石坎使洪水自由跌落。有些中、小型坝,为了节省开挖量,采取过水土坝(坝面砌护溢流)及侧槽溢洪道等。泄水洞多为无压涵洞或分级卧管,少量也采用压力管道、竖井等。工程材料多为料石、块石和少量预制钢筋混凝土管等。
