阿坝县位于青藏高原东南线和川西北高原西北边，昆仑山脉东端，横断山脉北端和大巴山脉西端，正处于长江、黄河支流河流分水岭地带。县境内正好有一条山脉，由西北部边界分水岭处一直向东南贯穿整个阿坝县境，成为一条长江黄河分水岭． 在阿坝县境西北部与青海省久治县交界处，一片宽敞的草场地名叫分水岭，在平坦的草地上长江黄河两条母亲河在草毯上共同携手向神圣的莲宝叶则山风景区脚下延伸，站在宽畅的省级过境公路上举目望去，即可以看到长江、黄河两条母亲河携手从山顶辽阔的草地上流向远方。山脚下的两眼清泉，是长江、黄河母亲河寻根旅游的胜地。
