为景天科植物狭叶红景天的根茎及根。
【植物形态】
狭叶红景天 多年生草本，高30～40厘米。根状茎粗壮，块状而多分叉。茎圆形，直立，单一或丛生，黄绿色。单叶互生，螺旋状排列；叶片线形或线状披针形，长3～6厘米，宽2～5毫米，先端急尖，边缘有疏锯齿，或凡为全缘，基部渐狭，下延，无柄；至基部叶片渐小，呈鳞片状，卵状披针形至卵状三角形。花雌雄异株；聚伞花序顶生，密集成头状；花小，黄绿色；萼片4～5，披针形；花瓣4～5，条状倒披针形；雄蕊8～10；雌蕊4～5，离生。蓇葖果披针形，长7～8毫米，先端鸟喙状。种子极细，线状披针形，灰棕色。 生于山地多石草地。分布云南、四川、陕西至新疆，东至河北。

全年可采。
【药材】
根茎块状，不规则，径3～6厘米，表面灰棕色，凹凸不平，有甚多芽眼突起，栓皮薄而皱缩，易脱落；质硬，芽眼处较松，断面紫棕色，有多数孔隙，呈海绵状。根部较细，质硬，不易破碎，断面圆形，红棕色，中有多数浅色花纹。气微，味酸涩而苦。
【性味】
涩，温。
【功用主治】
止血，止痛，破坚，消积，止泻。治跌打损伤，腰痛，吐血，崩漏，白带，月经不调，痢疾。
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，3～4钱。
【选方】
治吐血，崩漏，痢疾：狮子七、朱砂七、蝎子七、索骨丹、石榴皮各二钱。水煎服，随症加减。
