硅化钼(MoSi2)是一种应用极为普遍的电热元件材料,具有抗高温氧化、优异的耐蚀性能和高熔点等特性。其抗氧化性是由于在加热表面形成了不透气的玻璃薄膜,使之不受氧、氮、一氧化碳和二氧化硫的破坏,在1700—2000ºK温度下,二硅化钼加热可以工作二、三年之久。但低劣的机械性能影响硅化钼的应用,如果在硅化钼中加入SiC形成一种复合材料,这种材料将碳化硅弥散进二硅化钼的基体中,生成含有钼原子和硅原子的双金属化合物,其高温强度较二硅化钼单体高8倍之多,使其应用前景大受青睐。
