| 盐城市 位于中国江苏省中部，东濒黄海。面积1.50万平方千米（其中市区1728平方千米） ，1990年人口771.93万（其中市区135.07万）。民族有汉族、回族。汉设盐渎县。晋改盐城县。1940年建盐阜区。1948年置叶挺市。1949年复改盐城县。1983年设为省辖市。市境处苏北滨海平原和里下河平原。属北亚热带湿润季风气候。年均降水量1060毫米，年均温14.2℃。为江苏东部南北交通要冲，以公路为主，部分河流可通航。产稻、麦、棉等。盐城为中国棉花与淡水鱼重要产区，是江苏省新兴桑蚕基地。工业有轻纺、电子、机械、化工、食品、建材等，其中以“燕舞牌”收录机较为著名。特产龙冈茌梨、伍佑醉螺、大纵湖醉蟹、葛武嫩姜片、阜宁大糕、建湖花炮等。境内有烈士陵园、枯枝牡丹花园、新四军重建军部旧址等名胜。
