汽车长期使用后,燃油在发动机的燃油供给系统中容易产生沉积物.如在化油器或燃油喷射系统中形成漆膜或结焦,影响化油器或喷射装置的配剂质量及功能,使得发动机偏离设计空燃比;如在气门部位结焦,会造成气门关闭不严,从而影响发动机的动力性和经济性.燃油的胶状物还不容易燃烧完全,将生成积碳沉积在汽缸盖燃烧室,活塞顶部,过多的积碳沉积将导致汽缸散热不良,引起发动机爆震,不但降低了发动机的动力性和燃油经济性,而且加大了发动机的磨损,燃油节能添加剂就是针对上诉问题研制的.
