The relationship between population pressure growth and environmental change in recent 600 years in the upper reaches of the Fenhe River;

The integrated treatment of soil and water conservation in the upper Fenhe River has been conducted for almost 20 years.

It calculated the ecological footprint,ecological carrying capacity,ecological surplus/loss in the the upper reaches of Fenhe River during the period of1987～2003,with the theory and Method of the ecological footprint and the ecological pressure index.

This paper,based on a case study of the upstream of Fenhe Reservoir in Yellow River,applies the Remote Sensing data of Landsat MSS(1976),TM(1990) and ETM+(2002) to dynamically monitor the land erosion with the results indicating that the soil has been eroded extensively during 1976 to 1990,and turned to a good condition in general during 1990 to 2002,but still worsening lo.
