紧缩缺口又称通货紧缩缺口，指充分就业条件下，社会实际投资低于社会储蓄的空缺，亦即社会总供给超过社会总需求的差额。它表现为社会对商品和劳务需求的价值低于在充分就业条件下能够生产的价值。例如，在充分就业的情况下，国民生产总值为22000亿美元，而此时社会总需求即总投资加上总消费为20000亿美元，这意味着留下了2000亿美元的通货紧缩缺口。根据乘数原理，它会导致收入更大幅度的下降。但稍增加投资，又可实现充分就业。因此，当存在通货紧缩缺口时，只有通过增加政府开支或通过政策鼓励，帮助私人投资，才能便社会实现充分就业。
