笔架山景区包括:笔架山、朱砂冲、黄坳三个组成部分。

笔架山位距茨坪西南面三十五公里,海拔1357米。笔架山主要由中峰 (扬眉峰)、西峰(望指峰)、东峰(观岛峰)三大峰组成,一个“山”字形。远望犹如古代的笔架,故名笔架山。整个笔架山景区也是自然与人文景观相结合的景区,但笔架山是自然最观。笔架山雄伟壮丽,葱茏峻拔,逶迤奇险,风光秀丽。著名的景点景观有七大山峰、五大奇观,还有大小松岛等十余处景点。

朱砂冲哨口位于茨坪南面,海拔635米。是井冈山军事根据地的五大哨口之一。哨口旁有一洞穴,常有朱砂水溢出。朱砂冲由此而得名。

黄坳,素以井冈山革命根据地南大门而著称。井冈山斗争时期,毛泽东、朱德及红军常在这里开展革命活动。
