【性状】
本品长25～75cm。茎呈圆柱形，有节，表面淡黄绿色，断面中空。叶鞘 开裂。叶片披针形，有的皱缩卷曲，长5～20cm ，宽1～3.5cm；表面浅绿色或黄绿色。 叶脉平行，具横行小脉，形成长方形的网格状，下表面尤为明显。体轻，质柔韧。气微， 味淡。
【鉴别】
本品叶的表面观：上表皮细胞长方形或类方形，垂周壁薄，波状弯曲， 其下可见圆形栅栏细胞。下表皮长细胞与短细胞交替排列或数个相连，长细胞长方形,垂 周壁波状弯曲；短细胞为哑铃形的硅质细胞和类方形的栓质细胞，于叶脉处短细胞成串； 气孔较多，保卫细胞哑铃形，副卫细胞近圆三角形，非腺毛有三种：一种单细胞长非腺 毛；一种单细胞短非腺毛，呈短圆锥形；另一种为双细胞短小毛茸，偶见。
【炮制】
除去杂质，切段。
【性味与归经】
甘、淡，寒。归心、胃、小肠经。
【功能与主治】
清热除烦，利尿。用于热病烦渴，小便赤涩淋痛，口舌生疮。
【用法与用量】
6 ～9g。

置干燥处。
